Fremantle (or "Freo" to the locals), is an atmospheric port of convict-constructed buildings and great pubs, including the historic Sail and Anchor. It was established in 1829 as a port for the fledgling Swan River Colony and was the major city in Western Australia for much of its early history. Fremantle is a major tourist attraction offering a fine crafts, original music and theatre, exciting galleries, museums and bookshops. Along with maritime history and extensive architectural conservation, the Arts have become a central part of Fremantle life where visitors can discover the past and present. Fremantle is approximately 20 km west of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. Perth is the sunniest capital in Australia and the most isolated one in the world. Beaches are fabulous, among the best of any city in Australia. They face west so they catch the afternoon sun.

The technical sessions will be held in the Plympton Room of the conference center of the Tradewinds Hotel, 59 Canning Highway, Fremantle, West Australia. The Plympton Room has commanding views over the pool, the Piazza and the Swan River. The hotel is located on the Swan River, a short walk to Fremantle City, 17km (20 minutes) to Perth City, 3km to the beach, and 28km to the airport.
