Karlstad is well connected in terms or air, train and bus
connections. Below are some of usual ways to get here. Follow these

the university and conference locations in the city of
Karlstad.
By
Air:
You can
fly into Karlstad directly via Stockholm or Copenhagen. If you take
SAS (or another member of the Star Alliance such as Lufthansa) then
the price for the flight between Stockholm/Copenhagen will be less
than purchasing it separately. You can also fly into Gothenborg.
However, you would then need to take the train from Gothenborg to
Karlstad since there are no connecting flights. This journey takes
about 3 hours. Airlines that usually have good prices include:
Lufthansa/SAS, KLM, Air France, Iceland Air and Finnair. If you are
travelling via London, Ryan Air has some very cheap flights to
Stockholm. Note, however, that Ryan Air does not fly into Arlanda,
which is the major airport for Stockholm.
Getting to and from the
Airport:

By
Train:
If you
are flying into Gothenborg you can take the Airport Bus directly to
the train station. From there you can take several trains directly

The
same applies for Stockholm. There is both a bus service and a new
train. Both take you to the Central Station. See the above web
address for specific train information.
By
Bus:
Unless
you have a lot of time on your hands or just enjoy the experience of
sitting on a bus for extended periods of time, we would not
recommend this option. However, check out http://www.eurolines.se/
for inter European bus schedules.
Hotels: Hotel Reservations must be made by March 15 at the
latest!
We have
reserved about 100 rooms at local hotels in Karlstad. We ask that
you please make the bookings yourself. Make sure that you mention
that you want a room that is reserved for Next 1.0 (University of
Karlstad) as some hotels will offer a price
reduction.

When
registered for the conference the attendees are responsible for
booking a room at one of the hotels above. When booking just tell
the booking manager that your staying for the NeXT 1.0 Conference at
Karlstad University, the contact person for the bookings is Christer
Clerwall. Attendees will get more information about the hotels when
they arrive to Karlstad.
All the hotels
are in a short walking distance from the center of town,
approximately 5 minutes to the buses that leaves from the big square
to the University.

Getting
to the University from the centre by city bus:
- Catch Bus
#54 in the central square in front of the Gront and Grott food
store.
- Frequency:
every 10 minutes during peak times, every 30 min.
