To enlarge an area move the mouse over it. The Canning Regional Park is shown in green with the river flowing through the centre. 1. Birdhide at Fern Rd Lagoon in Wilson park 3. Gazebo at end of walkway in Ferndale Flats This website focuses on the area circled in red in the above map. A 3.5 km walkway extends from the Kent Street Weir to the Greenfield street bridge and then loops back around to the start. Along this walkway you will find several good vantage points for birdwatching. Another way to get even closer to the birds is by canoeing along the river. There is a canoe entrance point at the Kent Street Weir. Click here for canoe and walking trails. Remember to take your binoculars as many of the birds nest in areas that are off the pathways and in order to protect the enviroment access to these areas is limited. Note: dogs are allowed in the park however they must be on a leash at all times. Bicycles are welcomed however motorbikes are banned.
