Step into a world of fast-paced action and sizzling careers in Games Technology!

Games Technology is the fastest growing area in Information Technology. It is currently worth more than $50 billion a year globally, larger than even the film industry. People working in this industry are constantly faced with exciting and stimulating challenges to their creativity and their technical skills.

The BSc in Games Technology at Murdoch University is a doorway into this electrifying field. The course is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the theory, design and programming techniques required for producing software games. Topics covered include games theory, design and programming; advanced graphics techniques including virtual environments; artificial intelligence techniques; multi-player and internet games programming; and games specific software tools.

Duration

3 years full-time, or equivalent part-time.

Careers

In this rapidly expanding area, people with appropriate skills are in short supply. Graduates will find excellent career opportunities in games production companies of all sizes, from the small independent teams to large multi-national game publishers. Graduates will also be qualified in many associated industries, including multimedia content production; computer-generated imagery and special-effects in film and television; medical, engineering and environmental simulations; and many others including traditional Computer Science and Information Technology if a double major with Computer Science is taken.

 

Double Majors

Students in BSc Games Technology can complete double majors with Computer Science or Internet Computing, or any other major in associated areas such as Multimedia, Information Systems, etc.
